Born and raised in Southern California, Hunter discovered his passion for cameras at a young age. This early interest in visual expression evolved into creating short films and narrative projects as a youth in Los
Angeles. While attending the LA County High School for the Arts, Hunter honed his craft and became increasingly focused on a future in visual storytelling. After graduating at 18, he began working at a local lighting and grip rental house, quickly moving into assisting roles in both the camera and lighting departments.
His dedication and skill led to rapid growth in the industry. It wasn’t long before Hunter was serving as Director of Photography on series for major networks including Warner Brothers, HBO, MTV, ABC Family, TLC, AMC, Paramount, . Notable recent credits include MTV’s Say It in Song and Teen Mom, TLC's 90 Day Fiancé and AMC’s ICON Series.
Hunter is known for his versatility across genres and formats. His work in unscripted television demonstrates his ability to capture authentic, in-the-moment visuals, while his narrative projects highlight his talent for crafting mood and telling compelling visual stories. With a strong foundation in both documentary and scripted content, Hunter brings a flexible and adaptive approach to every project. Beyond television, he continues to serve as Director of Photography on a range of independent films, including both narratives and documentaries. He recently completed Speak, a feature-length documentary on the fear of public speaking for Tumbleweed Entertainment. In the commercial space, his credits include campaigns for Kraft Foods, Dove Hair, and Zoom Sound Systems, among others.
Hunter is currently the DP for MTV’s long-running series “Teen Mom the Next Chapter” and TLC's "My Strange Addiction" as well as recently wrapping production on a new children’s series "Rainbow Socks" slated to air on PBS.
